A riboswitch with enzymatic function
The binding of glucosamine 6-phosphate to the riboswitch upstream of the glmS gene results in structural rearrangement and cleavage of the mRNA.
The result is, that no GlmS enzyme is synthesized in the presence of the product glucosamine 6-phosphate.
